Read Mark 5:1-13
The lies that so easily keep us in bondage cannot be overcome by feats of strength or willpower. In fact, it is such attempts that empower the Deceiver himself. He tries to keep us focused on ourselves. He wants us to try to solve everything by ourselves. If he can keep everything "in house" he can effectively prevent us from experiencing the life changing truths freely available through Jesus. This truth has manifested itself even within religion. We are taught to be "good Christians", to look good. We should attend church in our Sunday best as if God cares if you are keeping up with the latest clothing trends. We are taught to fix things within our hearts which does not sound like a bad thing, but we have the order wrong. We are taught to get our heart right, clean ourselves up, and fix everything that is wrong or sinful in our lives before we can receive from God. But the truth is, when we press in and engage in an effort to learn more about who God is, our heart becomes purified through him. Now granted, I am making it sound easier than it is. Purifying your heart is a process, a journey that never ends. Now I do not mean for that to sound ominous, the road ahead of you is filled with revelations and wonders that you could never dream of. If you feel like you just can not get there, I understand, but it all starts by releasing and receiving.
We can not overcome our lies in our own strength. The Devil loves to make us believe that we will never be free from what is controlling us. Does this sound familiar? You tried to break free but you just are not strong enough. Well, then, you are absolutely correct. You can not get free. You are not strong enough. No matter how much willpower you exert you can not do it. At least not on your own. The lies that cripple you and keep you enslaved, the pain and suffering you are enduring have no power over Jesus. Jesus holds all the power. Meaning the control that thing, whatever it is, has over you is nonexistent. The attention you give it is the only source of its power. That is right! The Devil only has the power in which you give him. So release it to God and be at peace.
Love you Sisters!
